25 motif challenge

This is the last of the motifs made from Lene Bjorn's book, 24 Snowflakes in Tatting.
I've learned much from making these motifs becoming more adept at tatting continuous rounds and chain on chains. With these motifs completed, I know need to decide what to tat for my 25th motif of this 25 motif challenge.

25 motif challenge

With two more motifs from Lene Bjorn's book left to do, I am completing the 24 snowflake motifs in this book. These last two motifs have chain on chain components which I'd never done so I skipped them and left them for the last.

This is the first one - page 16 in the book.

Sampler

This is a sampler of machine quilting that I made when I took a Quilt University class earlier this year. I feel that I have a long way to go but I'm getting more comfortable with free motion quilting. I put a sleeve on the back of this small (17" x 20") quilt so I can hang it if I choose to - perhaps in my sewing room.

Four more snowflakes from Lene Bjorn's book. These have not yet been blocked as I'm waiting to do all the snowflakes at the same time.

Mystery Quilt

This is a mystery quilt made from Dorothy Young's Gentleman Johnny Meets Zachary Taylor pattern issued Christmas 2005. The finished product is an adaptation of a Burgoyne Surrounded quilt block.

For those of you who may not know what a mystery quilt is - the quilter selects fabric and then cuts and sews according to step by step directions given only one step at a time, all without knowing what the final product will be or what it will look like.

This pattern was for a 24" block using scrap fabric. I chose to use an accent color (the burgandy) which ended up being the star. I then made 5 more blocks when put together with the first block made this quilt which is approx. 46" x 69". The quilting caused the quilt to draw up which is not uncommon. I used flannel on the back so this should make a very nice couch throw or 'cuddle up' quilt. I had this machine quilted by a friend who is a long-arm quilter.

This will be a wedding gift to Lindsay and Cam.

25 Motif Challenge

Here are 4 more snowflakes from Lene Bjorn's book, 24 Snowflakes in Tatting. I'm becoming more comfortable with working continuous rounds rather than tying, cutting and starting a new round.
