As a crafter I'm primarily a quilter and a tatter. You'll occasionally find crochet, knitting and sewing (other than quilting). This blog will be a way to post and display projects both in progress and finished.

Star block
I saw a photo of this block done with scraps and wondered if I couldn't make it with waste triangles (pieced half square triangles cut from the corners of another block). So out came my bag of half square triangles and I found that most of my little squares are 2" square which will finish at 1.5" after 1/4" seams. I squared up my pieces and put together 1 block (6.5" or 6" finished size). I like it! Now to decide how I'd use these. I did decide one thing - I don't want to do any of these with smaller squares. I found partway through the assembly of this block that it worked better to press the seams open. I don't know that I've ever done that with quilt blocks but it makes for much less bulk on this block. Now -here's the photo.
