Square in Square w novelties

I had these 3" square in square blocks had needed a home in a quilt. What to do with them? First I stitched together in 4's then cut squares from novelties to use as alternate blocks. The result is this baby quilt which measures 36" x 48". The quilt is backed with light blue. 

Next I decided to add some of the little blocks to the 6" star block I made from bonus triangles. The result is this 12" block. I think this would make a nice little wallhanging or candle mat.
