Tatted Edging

I used a variegated blue size 20 Flora thread for this edging. The lace is attached through the holes at the edge of a handkerchief. I don't plan to use this as a hanky but rather a candle mat of other table mat.

The pattern is edging A handkerchief edgings from Learn How Book (Knitting,Crochet,Tatting, Embroidery) by Coats and Clark. This edging is all chain work and works up pretty easily.  I did make a couple changes on the corners. On round 2, I chose to do a chain with 1 picot as was used in round 1 instead of a chain with no picots on each side of the corner. The pattern called for 2 chains with picots to turn the corner. I added a center chain, both ends joined in the center picot of round 1. This gave the look of a ring at the corner and I liked the appearance much better.

Your tatting is beautiful. I've never been successful at tatting but I have made many hankies with crocheted edgings. I have been using some for over 50 years and they are still going strong. Those were Irish linen which I don't think you can get any longer.
