April 1 blocks

There were 4 new blocks posted for April 1 on the Just Takes 2 quilt project. In addition, there were directions for how to lay out all the blocks posted so far. Today I assembled a good number of the blocks. I need to make the new blocks before I can do anymore.
I'm learning a lot as I make this quilt as there are techniques used that either are new to me or that I've tried but am still not very comfortable with. This will be a beautiful quilt when finished!I'm beginning to think about how to quilt it. I don't even know what color would be best much less how to quilt it. I'll have to start looking closely at 2 color quilts to see what others have done.

March 1 blocks

On March 1, there were available directions for 4 more "Just Takes 2" blocks. There was a 3" finished square in square, 2 sets of 15" geese and 1 15" feathered star. The feathered star was be far the most complex block I've ever done. It's also the largest single block I've ever done. There is much to improve on in this block. It definitely was a challenge for me. I'm glad I completed it to this point. This is another of the blocks that I'll probably add tatting to but I haven't started that tatting. I'm still thinking about it and deciding what to do.

Feb 1 blocks

There were 2 blocks in the Feb. 1 posting - a 12 inch block and a 3 x 12" block. We were told we could go ahead and stitch these two blocks together. My blocks are pictured at the left.

Feb. 15 was the next installment of clues/patterns for this Just Takes 2 quilt. There were 5 blocks. I have one completed and will post a photo when they're all done.

This isn't the first time I've used red and white but it is the first time I've used only those 2 colors. I like the blocks I've made so far. Most of them are blocks I've never made before so that's new and different as well. This is a fun, yet challenging mystery.

Completed NYE Mystery quilt

It's been WAY too long since I've posted. My blog has taken a back seat to work and family health issues. I will try to catch up on posting my projects completed over recent months.
Let's start with the photo (shown above) of the NYE Mystery quilt I'd posted about but still haven't posted the finished quilt. This measures approx. 36" x 45" and is backed with a bright pink fleece, though not quite as bright as the pink fabric in the quilt. The top and bottom borders are the same yellow novelty print as the center squares on the blocks.
The blue 4 patch is another baby quilt made from novelty prints. This is also 36" x 45" and backed with fleece. It makes very cuddly quilts.

2010 NYE Mystery Quilt

I'll be doing Ann Smith's NYE mystery quilt. These are the selected fabric. We were asked to choose a focus fabric, a "pop" fabric, a medium and a background. I've done several of the NYE mysteries and they're fun to do. I expect this one to be also.
