Thank You Heart

This little heart is 1/4 of the Tatted Heart Doily by Nancy Tracy and published at be-stitched.com. I used size 40 blue  and DMC #12 ecru threads. The finished heart is approx. 3" but if putting it into a frame or a quilt block, it would look best in something 3.5-4" square.

I'm giving this to a friend who gave me some fabric and quilt blocks to use for the preemie quilts I make. She uses old handkerchiefs in quilts and sometimes adds small pieces of lace so I think she'll appreciate the heart.

Tatted Heart

This little heart was made for the top of a wedding gift. The gift was being mailed and a fancy ribbon and/or bow just wouldn't make it and look nice when it arrived so I tucked in this little heart into the card as an extra little gift for the bride and groom. The beads are a yellow-gold color which was used on the wedding invitations. This pattern is the "Y-Knot Heart" from Hearts belong to Tatting by Karey Solomon.

Connected Hearts Bookmarks

I made these little paper clips last week and gave them to my Bible study group. We were finishing a series of lessons and we were talking about our connection with one another. These little connected hearts (pattern: Hearts Entwined by Ellen Lai, May 2008) were perfect to remind us of our connection with one another and also of our need to be connected to God.
These were made with size 50 thread. Larger thread would have made the hearts larger but I was using up thread already on shuttles. That's what's so nice about these little projects. They're a great way to empty shuttles and make something useful at the same time.

Anniversary heart

This little heart is tatted with size 30 vintage thread with 50 gold seed beads. It will go to a couple who is celebrating their 50th anniversary. I've made a couple of these before and they have been much appreciated. I usually include a comment or two about the heart such as:

The heart is a symbol of love and this one represents how special your love is as it has one gold bead for each year that you've been married. Happy 50th Anniverssary!

The pattern for this heart is by Betsy Evans, copyright 1998.

Hearts for Claire

This is a sample of the hearts that I'm making to send to Claire, another tatter whose son is in the military. The hearts will be sent to him and he'll share them with others in the military. The tatting for this Hearts for Claire project is due May 1. I'm sending 20 hearts. Mine will be just a few out of the many, many that will be sent to Claire from all across the tatting community.
These hearts measure just over 1.5" across.

They are tatted from DMC #8 perle cotton, color 93. The pattern is #68 from Patti Duff's Mini Tats book.
